UAE rulers send condolences to King Salman on death of Prince Miteb

Leaders of the UAE have sent their condolences to Saudi Arabia's King Salman over the death of his brother, Prince Miteb bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Saudi royal court announced Prince Miteb's death on Monday in a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

In a cable to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, President Sheikh Khalifa prayed for Prince Miteb's soul to rest in Paradise and for solace and patience for Al Saud family, the state news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also sent messages of condolence to King Salman.

The Saudi royal court statement said Prince Miteb's funeral would be held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Tuesday.

Prince Miteb was a senior member of the royal family who was born in Riyadh in 1931. He was governor of Makkah between 1958 and 1961 and held various other administrative positions after that. In 1980, he was made Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, a post he held until 2009.
