MANAMA // A leading member of Bahrain's Shiite opposition says political groups challenging the monarchy's power are ready to talk to the rulers about change.

Abdul Jalil Khalil said the opposition will accept the crown prince's invitation for dialogue after two weeks of street protests in the nation.

Mr Khalil says the opposition will present its demands and a "framework for dialogue" today.

The opposition has previously called for formation of a constitutional monarchy that would have an elected government.
