A 40-year-old man who planned to attack Muslims in a vile hate attack has appeared in court charged with terror offences.
Steven Bishop, from south London, is accused of preparing an act of terrorism and making a record of information useful to a person committing an act of terrorism.
At a hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday he spoke only to give his address, name and date of birth. Mr Bishop was remanded in custody by Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot ahead of a hearing at London’s Old Bailey on 23 November.

Mr Bishop’s lawyer made no application for bail but suggested not guilty pleas will be made. He was arrested on 29 October by counterterrorism police on suspicion of planning an attack.
A 47-year-old man was also detained as part of the same operation on 1 November but later released without charge.
