Britain’s Prince William worried about brother Harry after TV interview

Britain’s Prince William is reportedly concerned about his brother after Prince Harry and his wife Meghan spoke of their struggle to live under the global spotlight.

Harry and his wife were “in a fragile place”, the BBC reported on Monday, quoting a Buckingham Palace source.

The source said William was worried about his younger brother and hoped they “are all right”.

Harry in recent weeks has issued emotional statements criticising British press treatment of him and his family.

On Sunday the ITV television network broadcast a documentary filmed during the couple's recent tour of Africa.

In it, Harry said he would not be bullied into "playing the game" with the media that he believes killed his mother Princess Diana, and he revealed that a rift had developed with his older brother.

Diana became one of the most photographed women on the planet after she married the heir to the throne, Prince Charles.

She died in a car accident in 1997 after being followed through the streets of Paris by photographers.

In the same documentary Meghan Markle, a former American actress, said the last year had been hard and friends had warned her not to marry the prince because of the British tabloid press.

The duchess, who married the Duke of Sussex in May 2018, said she never thought life would be easy in the British royal family but expected she would be treated fairly.

"When people are saying things that are just untrue and they have been told they are untrue, but they are allowed to still say them, I don't know anybody in the world that would feel like that is OK, and that is different from scrutiny,” she said.

Harry and Meghan have launched legal proceedings against Britain's biggest tabloids.

Harry compared the treatment of his wife to the press's approach to his mother, and said what happened to her remained incredibly raw.

A spokeswoman for Prince William's Kensington Palace office declined to comment.
