ABU DHABI //‎A woman died after being electrocuted while using her shower, the Appeals Court heard on Monday.

The woman was taking a shower when her sister heard her scream and she called Civil Defence for help.

A Civil Defence member tried to help her but got electrocuted himself upon touching the shower head that was in her hand.

They turned off the power in the house and managed to get her out of the bathtub — but the accident was fatal.

Her father sued the contracting company of the house, because he had called them previously to fix an error in the heating system. They went and supposedly fixed it, but the accident occurred soon after.

The chief justice said he was astonished at how the company was cleared by the First Instance Court.

Public prosecution appealed their acquittal.

The court told a representative from the company that they should pay the blood money to the victim’s family.

The case was adjourned until January 25.
