DUBAI // A woman allegedly tried to hide her identity from police after her ex-husband reported her for having an illicit relationship with a man, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday.
Prosecutors said that on November 3 last year, police received a call from a man reporting that his ex-wife was with a strange man.
Policeman K H, 49, following up on the report, met the trio, including the ex-husband, A S, in Al Khawaneej.
“A S told me that his divorcee was with a man and he wanted to prove it to police,” said the officer, who then walked towards the woman and her male companion and asked them for their Emirates ID.
“She handed me an ID carrying the name Fatima. When A S came near he saw the ID and told me that this was not her ID and her name was not Fatima.”
Emirati A A, 33, is charged with using an official document belonging to another, and the next hearing is October 18.
