Emirates has made a habit of adorning its aircraft with special liveries, from football-related decals to those supporting wildlife and Expo 2020.

Its most recent work of art has been in support of the Year of Zayed, having unveiled it first in November on the fuselage of Emirates' 100th A380 aircraft.

And now, the Dubai carrier has completed work on 10 aircrafts to coincide with the Year of Zayed theme.

"Sheikh Zayed was a legendary leader, a true pioneer, and an inspirational figure," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates chairman and chief executive.

"His legacy for sustainable development lives on in the spirit of the UAE.  Emirates is proud to spread his universal message to global audiences in airports and cities around the globe.”

The The 10 planes – five Airbus A380s and five Boeing 777-300ERs – will continue to sport the special liveries for the remainder of 2018, and have already completed 1,500 flights between them.

Each livery covers an area of 480m² on the A380 and 312m² on the Boeing 777-300ER respectively. It took staff at the Emirates Engineering Aircraft Appearance Centre a total of 119 days to complete the makeover.
