Waiter jailed for trying to kiss colleague must see out his term

DUBAI// A waiter who was jailed for trying to kiss a female colleague while drunk has been told he must see out his three-month prison sentence by the Appeals Court.

Pakistani M D, 25, told Dubai Criminal Court in March that he was drunk at the time of the incident and could not remember what happened.

On February 1 this year, M D pulled the Filipina by her hand and forced himself upon her but she resisted.

He was charged with sexual assault and consuming alcohol without a license.

“I was heading home at nearly 3.30am when he blocked my way and pulled me from the arm, he even tore my jacket and I was injured after resisting him,” said the 34-year-old victim.

She immediately reported the matter to police.

M D was fined Dh2,000 for drinking without a license and will be deported after serving his jail term.
