DUBAI // Residents and visitors can experience a rare, close up look at sharks at the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo at the The Dubai Mall.

A unique opportunity to observe and get to know more about zebra sharks is being offered to mall-goers as part of the "Sharks Alive" exhibit which runs until May 15.

Zebra sharks, which can reach a length of 2.5 metres, are distinctive in appearance with longitudinal ridges on their cylindrical body and dark spots on their pale-coloured skin.

They can be found in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, from South Africa to the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf to India and Southeast Asia.

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is also offering several interactive presentations by its team of aquatic and marine specialists who will also guide visitors and provide them with a chance to get close to juvenile shark species at the Underwater Zoo.

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is one of the largest and most diverse indoor aquariums in the world with tens of thousands of aquatic animals, and features the world's largest acrylic viewing panel.

Underwater Zoo, located on Level 2 above the main Aquarium window, presents daily talks on the planet's diversity in different ecological zones including the Rainforest, Rocky Shore and Living Ocean.
