UK embassy visa section opens in new Abu Dhabi location

ABU DHABI // The British embassy's visa section in the capital will re-open on Sunday after being closed the past two days in order to move to a new location.

The visa application centre (VAC), which carries out a range of services for UK residents in the UAE, has freed up more appointment slots for applicants from Sunday to cater for those who were affected by the temporary closure.

The new centre will be on level 25 of Shining Tower, Abu Dhabi, on 26th Street near Khalidiya Mall.

It is in the same location as the Spanish and Australian visa centres.

A spokesman for the British embassy said: "During the move the VAC was closed for two days for the submission of fresh applications but remained open for the return of passports and documents.

"Applicants should continue to book appointments online as per usual but should be aware that it is likely that some pent up demand may result in the new VAC being particularly busy for the first few days of opening."

As of Sunday normal operation will continue at the visa application centre, with the usual 4-5pm passport collection hours.
