ABU DHABI // The Lebanese ambassador to the UAE has been summoned following statements from Hizbollah’s secretary-general.
The Foreign Ministry summoned Hassan Yousif Saad, the ambassador, to deliver a formal memorandum of protest following remarks made by Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah towards Bahrain.
Dr Tariq Al Hidan, assistant foreign minister for international organisation affairs, expressed the UAE’s severe condemnation for the remarks, state news agency Wam said.
He called them a blatant interference in Bahraini affairs that incite violence and terrorism, aiming to destabilise the country’s security and stability.
“The UAE holds the Lebanese government fully responsible for these statements, and demands it to issue a clear statement condemning and denouncing such hostile statements,” Dr Al Hidan said.
“These statements are unacceptable interference in Bahrain’s affairs, highlighting that the Lebanese government has to take deterrent legal action to ensure that such acts will not be repeated.”
