Dust and haze will linger in the air this week, pushing up humidity to uncomfortable levels.

Temperatures could rise particularly in the east where cloudy conditions are forecast during the afternoon, according to the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology.

The haze blanketed most parts of the country last week reducing visibility to 1,000 metres on several days.

Temperatures will move up to 47°C in the interior regions, 43°C along the coast and 38°C in the mountains.

The humidity would be 60 to 90 per cent across coastal regions, between 55 to 85 per cent in internal areas and 40 to 70 per cent in the mountains.

The highest temperature recorded on Friday was 47.7°C in Mezaira.
