Islam urges us to enlighten younger generations through education and reading as they grow up, worshippers will be told on Friday.
“Young generations, boys and girls, are the future of the nation, its hope and impenetrable fort,” says today’s sermon.
“They safeguard its land and build its glory thanks to their open mind, fine thinking, pure hearts, strong arms, and will and true faith.”
Islam has focused on educating youngsters with care “so that they become enlightened in their thinking, distinguished with their good conduct, adherent to their religious values and authentic traditions”.
Youth who grow up with knowledge and persistence to learn and read “can surmount the most stubborn challenges”.
Youngsters are also advised to sit with the elders to learn from their wisdom, because “there is nothing prettier than combining the enthusiasm of the youth with the expertise of the elderly persons”.
“This way, they can grow up on the authentic traditions stemmed from the tolerant principles of Islam.”
Consequently, they will set examples in building civilisations.
“Yet this knowledge should be sought from the right reference sources rather than through the internet or social media.”
Those trusted sources, according to the sermon, are official trusted entities in the country because they are overseen by scholars and experts.
A verse is cited from the Quran that says: “So ask the people of the message if you do not know.”
