DUBAI // Two police officers blackmailed an illegal resident into having sex with them in return for letting her go, a court heard on Sunday.
F M, a 34-year-old Moroccan woman, said she was with a friend in a taxi on February 5 when Emirati police officers M H A, 22, and M A A, 26, stopped them.
“They asked for our IDs so I handed him my passport, which he checked on the system,” she said. “Then he asked me to accompany them in the patrol car because I was an illegal resident.”
She said that when she got into the car, M H A told her that if she had sex with him, he would let her go free. The woman said she then asked for her passport back but they refused. The next morning she reported them to police.
She was given a tagged phone and received several calls from M H A, most of which were about having sex with her in return for the passport. He was arrested in a sting operation after agreeing to meet her. The other officer was also arrested.
M H A denied a charge of seeking a bribe. His colleague did not appear at Dubai Criminal Court. The next hearing was scheduled for June 29.
