DUBAI // Two people were killed in separate incidents on Dubai’s roads on Wednesday.

The first incident happened at 6.20am and involved a lorry and a bus that was parked on the hard shoulder of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, after Global Village Sharjah-bound.

Col Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic, said: “The bus driver, from Pakistan, was standing near his vehicle to check the condition of his tyre when a lorry ran him over.”

The second incident took place on Emirates Road and involved three vehicles – two lorries and a pickup truck.

“Officers from Al Rashidiya police station rushed at 12.20pm to the scene, where the three vehicles collided,” Col Al Mazrouei said, adding that the driver of the pickup truck, an Asian man, was killed.

More than six people have been killed and more than 30 injured in traffic incidents in Dubai since the beginning of Ramadan.
