SHARJAH // Officers from Sharjah CID have arrested three men with US$15,000 in counterfeit bills.
The Syrian, Iranian and a Tajikistani men were caught after police received a tip about the trio trying to circulate fake $100 bills in the emirate.
A team of officers arrested the suspects in an apartment that they used as a base for their operations.
A case filled with black paper as well as large amounts of counterfeit bills were found inside the apartment.
Colonel Jihad Sahoo, director of the Criminal Investigation Department said: “Officers identified the suspects after receiving the information about their illegal activity, and secured the proper search warrants before they apprehended them in the apartment.”
Police referred their case to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
