UAE traffic: Multiple accidents on Sheikh Zayed Road cause congestion

Dubai Police reminded motorists to drive carefully and advised them to take alternative routes if possible.

DUBAI // Two car accidents took place on Sheikh Zayed Road on Sunday, causing heavy congestion along the busy motorway.

An accident occurred after Al Safa Bridge towards the Dubai Mall Bridge at around 8:30am causing tailbacks. Dubai Police reminded motorists to drive carefully and advised them to take alternative routes if possible.

Meanwhile, another accident was reported on Sheikh Zayed Road before the Business Bay Metro stations towards Sharjah.

Heavy congestion was also reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road following a traffic incident near University City Road intersection towards Abu Dhabi and Dubai.​

No injuries were reported.

How to apply for a drone permit
  • Individuals must register on UAE Drone app or website using their UAE Pass
  • Add all their personal details, including name, nationality, passport number, Emiratis ID, email and phone number
  • Upload the training certificate from a centre accredited by the GCAA
  • Submit their request

  • Ensure maximum flying height of 400 feet (122 metres) above ground level is not crossed
  • Users must avoid flying over restricted areas listed on the UAE Drone app
  • Only fly the drone during the day, and never at night
  • Should have a live feed of the drone flight
  • Drones must weigh 5 kg or less
