Motorists were advised caution on Sheikh Zayed Street on Saada bridge following an accident in Abu Dhabi.
A blocked lane was cleared but delays continued.
Heavy traffic slowed early commuters in Dubai Silicon Oasis, International City, Barsha and on Emirates Road as well as Sheikh Zayed Road and Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Dubai on Sunday.
The tailbacks continued in Al Quoz, Dubai Investment Park and in Muhaisnah in Dubai.
Congestion built up in Sharjah around Industrial Areas 12 and 15 near the National Paints Factory and the Tawi Matraq area, and in the capital after Sweihan bridge toward Abu Dhabi and on the E20 International Airport road after Khalifa City.
