DUBAI // More than 273 million trips were taken on Dubai’s public transport in the first half of this year.
The total exceeded 271.3 million journeys in the first six months of last year on Dubai Metro, tram, bus, cabs and water taxis by more than two million, reaching 273.4 million, said Mattar Al Tayer, director general of the Roads and Transport Authority.
The share of public transport has soared from 6 per cent in 2006 to 15 per cent last year, and was expected to reach 16 per cent by the end of this year.newsdesk@thenational.ae
