RAS AL KHAIMAH // Two people have been killed and five others injured in a car smash.

They were all in the same vehicle and travelling at high speed when the driver lost control at Al Safina roundabout, swerved and crashed into several roadblocks and restaurants, police said.

The car finally stopped when it smashed into a car by the side of the road, injuring the parked vehicle’s passengers.

The two killed were an Asian woman, 27, and an Arab man, 26. The three others in the car – two western men and an Asian women – were hurt, said Lt Col Ahmed Al Naqbi, deputy director of traffic and patrols at RAK Police.

The passengers in the parked car were Asians aged 32 and 37.

In an unrelated accident, a 30-year-old Emirati was killed when his car turned over in RAK. Eleven others, including children, were injured.

The deceased was in a car with his family when a lorry suddenly swerved in front of him.

His vehicle turned over multiple times when he swerved to avoid it and he died instantly. All those injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
