DUBAI // Ever wondered what it would cost to have one of those three-digit number plates you see on the more impressive looking cars around the city?
Stop guessing. It’s a measly Dh189,610, after the Roads and Transport Authority announced a 30 per cent discount from Tuesday.
“The trend of owning distinctive plates is thriving,” said Sultan Al Marzouqi, director of the RTA’s licensing agency.
“These discounted plates will be released through several channels including the RTA’s website, customer service centres, service providers, car dealers and the smart app Drivers and Vehicles.
“This initiative is in response to the wishes of customers, distinctive number plate enthusiasts and traders.”
Mr Al Marzouqi said it was part of the RTA’s aim to keep motorists happy.
The discount runs until the end of August and applies to a limited quantity of three-digit number plates with various codes. The agency often announces the launch of new codes of plates in alphabetical order, such as the 700 Q-coded plates a few months ago.
These are available at a nominal price until August next year, the RTA said.
