DUBAI // Applications to issue and renew parking permits for the elderly and the disabled can now be done via a smartphone app.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently launched a service for the permits through their RTA DUBAI App. The move is part of RTA’s increased efforts to harness the technology for serving the community and customers.
It is inspired by the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a disabled-friendly city by 2020.
“Easing the process of parking permits has become a pressing need for the elderly as well as the disabled,” said Sultan Al Marzouqi, director of drivers’ licensing. “Besides that, the RTA has embarked on a plan to augment the number of services offered via the smart applications platform.”
Once approved the permits will be delivered to the applicant.
