UMM AL QUWAIN // Road deaths and car crashes have increased in the emirate in 2014, when compared to the previous year.
The director of traffic and patrols at Umm Al Quwain police, Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Arran, said that crashes have increased by 10 per cent and that there has been a slight increase in the number of deaths.
He attributed the hike in incidents to the continuous development and maintenance projects on UAQ’s roads and to bad weather.
Excessive speed, inattention and sudden swerving were also among the factors leading to crashes, he added.
