Road closures on Friday for first Abu Dhabi Marathon

Number of streets will close from midnight until 2pm

Abu Dhabi Corniche and a number of streets will close on Friday between midnight and 2pm for the Abu Dhabi Marathon, the Department of Transport has announced.

The closures will stretch from Marina Mall and across the Corniche. Partial street closures will also occur, including on the street leading to Qasr Al Hosn.

Road number 18 between the Adnoc Headquarters and Hilton Hotel will be closed from Thursday to Friday.

As Adnoc is the main sponsor of the marathon, a village has been set up on the street inside Bainunah Park with live entertainment, food trucks and related booths. Families and observers are welcome to watch the race from the village or enjoy the facilities. The village has been open since Monday, and will open from 4am on the race day.

Athletes participating in the full marathon and the 10 kilometre run have been given car stickers to park near the race location – marathon runners can park at ADNOC Tower staff parking, while the 10k race runners can park at Nation Towers. Those participating in the 5k and 2.5k fun runs can park at Hudayriat Island and shuttle buses will drive them back and forth.
