If you received a traffic fine on or before December 2, the fees will be half-off the original price for the next three months. However, the discount may be murky if you rent rather than own your automobile.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, announced on Saturday a country-wide discount of 50 per cent on traffic offences.
For car owners, there are a few ways to pay your fines.
First, always start with your emirate’s police department website:

Sharjah (site was down at 3:35 pm), though we did find an alternative site to check traffic offences if registered within the emirate.
There is also Emirates Vehicle Gate which is an electronic services for all drivers and vehicle owners in the UAE.

However, those of you renting may not be so lucky.
One car rental company said it had already paid its customer fines before the announcement; therefore, drivers were ineligible to obtain the National Day reduction. Rental companies may pay fines at any time, even same day. The company said if a user had a fine, the person could go to the traffic department and pay with the discounted rates. Get a receipt and present to the rental company.
Then again, if you do not own your car, you may not be aware of the fines as the alerts go to the owner of the car - which would be the rental company.
