SHARJAH // An eight-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a car while crossing a road in Sharjah on Friday night.
The Indian child died after she was run-over near Al Istiqlal Square, police said.
Sharjah Police’s command centre were notified about the incident at 9pm and dispatched emergency crews and patrols to the location. The child’s body was taken to Al Qasimi hospital.
The motorist was taken into custody.
Police urged drivers to abide with speed limits and called on pedestrians to cross roads only at designated areas.
