DUBAI // Five people were injured in Dubai this morning in two separate accidents on Sheikh Zayed Road. The first accident occurred at about 8.15am near Interchange One, formerly known as Defence Roundabout, when four vehicles travelling in the direction of Abu Dhabi collided. Three people suffered minor injuries and were referred to Rashid Hospital for treatment. Police say the drivers were not observing a safe following distance. The second accident occurred at 8.20am near the ninth interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road, close to Ibn Batutta Mall. Two four-wheel drive vehicles collided, causing one of the vehicles to overturn. Two people, the driver and a passenger of one of the vehicles, sustained minor injuries and were referred to Rashid Hospital for treatment. Primary investigations suggest the collision occurred due to speeding.
