A man died after crashing into a stationary water tanker while driving on the hard shoulder of a road in Ras Al Khaimah.

Police were alerted to the accident on Adhan Road at about 8.30am on Wednesday.

Emergency services were sent to the scene but found the 20-year-old motorist had died as a result of the incident.

The tanker was stopped for watering plants on the roadside.

“The driver tried to avoid the collision by turning right but failed,” said Brig Gen Ahmed Al Naqbi, director of the traffic and patrols department at RAK Police.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by authorities.

Brig Gen Al Naqbi urged road users to pay attention while driving and abide by set speed limits.

On Tuesday, two Emirati men were killed and a third badly hurt in Sharjah road crash.

The driver lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road after suffering a burst tyre while travelling at high speed.
