DUBAI // Highways officials claim that new traffic signs have helped avoid any major incidents on the city’s roads during the recent spell of foggy weather.
The Roads and Transport Authority said that signs equipped with surveillance cameras allowed staff to monitor the roads, which allowed the 67-strong emergency team respond to minor traffic accidents.
Maitha bin Adi, chief executive of the RTA, told Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National, that fog warnings were also broadcast on 20 digital billboards placed on main roads.
