DUBAI // The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority and Al-Futtaim Motors launched Junior Publisher, a competition aimed at raising child safety awareness.

The contest encourages students to spread awareness messages to more than 144,000 of their peers and 360,000 individuals within the year, through the RTA’s Salama magazine.

A total of five winners will be drawn monthly, with each winner receiving a cash prize of Dh1,000. The competition will run for the duration of the year, with the Salama magazine being distributed to 105 schools across the UAE.

“Unfortunately, we still see a high percentage of drivers who don’t buckle their children up in appropriate child seats, which increases the risk of injury significantly in case of an accident,” said Yousuf Al Raeesi, general manager for health, security, safety and environment at Al-Futtaim Motors.
