DUBAI // “Moraqeb”, the special disabled parking space monitor installed in the Dubai Mall recorded its first violation by a vehicle showing a “disabled” sticker.
The monitor records video images of infractions, said Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of Traffic at Dubai Police.
He said some motorists are taking advantage of disability car stickers and called on the authorities to review their distribution. He explained that investigation showed that the vehicle’s owner was using a disability sticker belonging to one of his relatives and he has been using it to get access to disabled parking spaces.
Col Al Mazrouei said the car owner was issued a violation ticket. Dubai Traffic Department is looking into punitive measures to be taken against violators.
