The private company that investigates minor traffic accidents is set to patrol the roads in Fujairah.
The emirate’s police and Saaed have signed an agreement authorising the company to respond to minor road accidents instead of police traffic patrols, allowing officers to concentrate on other security-related issues.
“Saaed will contribute to the work of the police when it comes to road safety,” said Brig Mohammed Ahmad bin Ganem Al Kaabi, commander-in-chief of Fujairah Police. “It will also help ease traffic, which is usually a result of minor car accidents. Police patrols can now focus their energy on security issues and all sorts of crime.”
Saaed staff prepare reports, including diagrams of crash scenes, to help determine fault, which can carry a fine of Dh300. If there is a dispute over who is at fault, police will be called, with a case going to court if a disagreement cannot be resolved.
Brig Hussein Al Harthi, director of traffic and patrols at Abu Dhabi Police and chairman of Saaed, said the company will, “actively try to help decrease traffic accidents in the emirate, just like we have done in Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Ajman”.
Saaed started working in the Mussaffah area in 2008 before branching out to the rest of Abu Dhabi and then the Northern Emirates. A fleet of 20 cars started work in Sharjah last year, leaving Dubai as the only emirate where the company does not operate.
