Abu Dhabi lorry drivers are focus of reckless driving campaign

ABU DHABI // Lorry drivers on Abu Dhabi-Al Ghuwaifat road have been warned against speeding and reckless driving as part of a road safety awareness initiative aimed at reducing the number of traffic accidents.

Major Suhail Al Mazroui, chief of the western region highways section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, urged motorists to wear seat belts, stick to the speed limits, avoid overtaking, stop their vehicles during low visibility and inclement weather conditions, and adhere to designated lanes.

Lorry drivers are also being warned about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving, overloading and defective and worn out tyres.

Brochures in English and Arabic on safe driving tips were distributed to lorry drivers entering and leaving the UAE.
