ABU DHABI // More than 12,000 pilgrims returned to the UAE after completing their Haj journey to Mecca through the Al Ghuweifat border with Saudi Arabia.

Major Salem Al Ameri, Head of the Police Section at the crossing, said staff had doubled efforts to finalise pilgrims’ check-in procedures in record time and provide all means of comfort, including tents dedicated to women.

Maj Al Ameri added that patrols were increased on main roads while additional signs and barriers were installed to facilitate the movement of pilgrims, in addition to a mobile workshop providing repair services for tour buses and other vehicles.

By Sunday evening, the border point had received 544 tour buses returning back to the UAE.
