ABU DHABI // A teenager appeared at the Federal Supreme Court on Monday accused of trying to join ISIL.
S Y A, 19, an Emirati, sought to join the extremist group despite knowing of its actions, prosecutors said in the State Security Division of the court.
The defendant, who was accompanied by his father and lawyer, denied the charges.
He will be tried under the UAE’s anti-terror laws.
The case was adjourned to June 29.
