Subaru's solid sales hike

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO // Subaru Canada has reported solid sales for January 2010, making it the fastest growing Japanese automaker in the Canadian market. Last month, 15,611 units were sold by Subaru Canada, compared with 12,194 units in January 2009, a 28 per cent increase in overall sales. Some of the Canadian market's newer models contributed strongly to January's solid performance with last month being the best January ever for the Subaru Outback, with 5,467 units sold, a 117 per cent increase on January 2009. The Subaru Legacy, sold as the Subaru Liberty in some other markets, also more than doubled its sales compared to the same period last year with 2,448 units sold, a 110 per cent increase year-on-year. Despite this strong performance overall, three models suffered a drop in January sales compared with January 2009. The Impreza dropped 15 per cent, the Forester dropped four per cent and the Tribeca dropped 38 per cent.
