Etisalat has teamed up with the Ministry of Interior to supply, install and maintain smart fire alarm systems in homes across Abu Dhabi.
The systems, which will also be installed in public facilities, will be linked to civil defence operation rooms. They will still work in the absence of electricity and Etisalat connection.
The initiative is part of plans by the UAE government to enhance safety in the civil sector.
Residents can apply for the new fire systems through the MOI’s website.
Dubai announced similar plans for residential homes in January after seven Emirati children died in a house fire in Fujairah.
