DUBAI // A security guard at a residential building has been jailed for six months for molesting an eight-year-old girl in his room.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted Indian S M, 37, of sexual assault after the attack on Syrian girl A K on July 27.
On the day of the attack the girl was riding her bike in front of the building in Al Muraqqabat, Deira, where she lived with her family.
She told prosecutors that she was approached by the security guard, who asked her to accompany him to his room, where he groped her. After the act, he gave the girl two dirhams and 25 fils.
Later that day, the girl’s father returned home and noticed that there was something wrong with her.
“I asked her about the money. She told me the security guard at our building had given it to her,” said M K, 37. When questioned, she told him what had happened. “I called police, who came right away and arrested him,” the father said.
The security guard, who denies the charges, will be deported after completing his jail term.
