Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday met with Ayad Allawi, the former prime minister of Iraq. Mr Allawi's party won the most seats in the recent elections. They reviewed issues of mutual concern and ways of enhancing bilateral ties for the best interest and stability of the two countries and the region at large, WAM, the state news agency, reported. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, who also met Mr Allawi, reiterated the UAE's support for the political process in Iraq.
Meanwhile Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed has told Red Crescent officials to deliver urgent food assistance and water to lorry drivers stuck at the Al Ghuweifat border checkpoint, WAM reported.
