The country’s leaders on Sunday inaugurated a youth centre where young Emiratis can develop their skills, embrace their creativity and research ideas.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, was joined by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in Dubai to open what the Dubai Ruler described as “the finest youth centre in the Arab World”.

The centre is designed for Emiratis under the age of 30 and is comprised of 12 designated areas for skills development. They include youth offices, workspaces for young professionals, entrepreneurs, scholar and coder, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said.

“With a year-round range of exciting events, the centre has volunteer opportunities, a collaborative brainstorming lab and a theatre,” he tweeted on Sunday.

“We aim to empower our young citizens and invest in preparing them to meet their future with ambition, knowledge, creativity and pride.”

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed praised the youth centre, which he said was a new and distinctive environment in which to incubate and motivate the creativity and talents of youth.

He said investing in the youth is a fundamental pillar in the development of the country.

"We expect a great contribution to the country from our youth as they are the source of pioneering initiatives and ideas, and what we see from them is heartening and gives us confidence in the future," Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, and Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, also attended the launch.
