Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed, the Ruler of Sharjah, has sanctioned a Dh20 million fund to pay for rented accommodation for people whose homes are slated for demolition.
The fund is designed to cover residents' housing needs until several affordable housing projects are completed. Sheikh Sultan said the Sharjah Government can build 1,000 housing units a year, falling short of demand for some 5,000 units a year.
In a broadcast on the Al Khatt Al-Mubashir programme on Sharjah TV, Sheikh Sultan said he would personally oversee the scheme.
