Drivers have been warned to brace themselves for deteriorating visibility on the roads as sand and dust storms have been forecast to hit most inland areas on Thursday and Friday.
The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology has warned of a likely drop in visibility to below 2,000 metres on most inland and exposed areas in the country due to “aggravated sand and dust”.
High winds are also expected to further exacerbate the problem.
In a statement, the NCMS advised motorists to be cautious on the roads, reduce their speed and leave sufficient safe braking distance between their vehicles and others, due to the effects of poor visibility. Conditions are expected to be worse in inner and open areas.
