DUBAI// A salesman accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy after showing him pornographic images failed to show up in court to enter a plea.
E A, 29, from Egypt is facing a charge of sexual assault. Prosecutors said on October 10 last year the Emirati boy was at a library where the defendant works.
E A is alleged to have held the boy, then had him sit on his lap and touched his private part after showing him inappropriate images.
Police officer A A, 38, from Yemen, testified that the defendant was arrested three days after the boy’s family lodged a complaint. “He was brought to the police station but at first denied molesting the boy then confessed willingly in front of me, he said he knew the boy was the son of the Imam of a masjid near by.”
Prosecutors said that in his confession, E A said he tried to force the boy to touch him but the boy ran away.
The next hearing will be on January 13 to summon the defendant.
