AJMAN // Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, has ordered the release of 49 prisoners for National Day.
Sheikh Humaid wanted to give the pardoned inmates the chance to start a new life and ease the suffering of their families.
Those chosen for release have shown good conduct while serving their terms in the emirate.
Sheikh Humaid expressed his hope that the inmates would join their families soon and live the rest of their lives as good members of society.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, also ordered an unspecified number of prisoners to be released.
Those chosen have already served half of their jail terms and shown good conduct.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, had previously ordered the release of 57 inmates from the RAK Correctional and Punitive Establishment.
Sheikh Saud also pledged to settle their debts.
And Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, had pardoned 129 of the emirate’s prisoners.
