Dubai
At 11am on Thursday, November 3 the country has been called to join together in celebration of the UAE by raising the national flag.
The rallying patriotic call was sounded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, who has appealed for the UAE to come together through patriotic messages on social media.
On Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed called on brothers and sisters of the UAE to celebrate the flag of the country, symbol of pride and banner of glory.
He said the flag of the UAE, showed unity and sacrifice and should be raised by all institutions, ministries, schools and government entities at the same time at 11am.
It should be one time, with one heart beating with love for the soil of the homeland, he said in a tweet.
He added that the UAE flag is not a painted banner or colourful fabric, it is a heart that beats in the chests of the UAE people, who are ready to sacrifice their blood, souls and their children for.
A further tweet said the nation wanted to see it on homes, farms and facilities, flying in the sky, held aloft as high as the nation’s ambition, high above all corners of the country.
Flag Day falls on November 3, the day of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession as President of the UAE. This year will mark the president’s 11th anniversary.
Celebrations for the UAE flag campaign will run until November 7 across cultural centres and some of the country’s major malls, with established artists in the UAE staging flag exhibitions in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
