DUBAI // A police officer who was high while trying to smuggle drugs to a detainee at Al Qusais police station was sentenced to four years in jail on Tuesday.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted J F, a 29-year-old Emirati policeman, with consuming drugs and attempting to smuggle drugs. He was jailed for four years for the consumption of morphine but was only fined Dh1,000 for smuggling drugs into a police station.
The officer was arrested on May 12 while caught in the act of trying to smuggle the drugs. It was not clear in records who he was trying to take the drugs to.
The Emirati denied both charges in court but he was found guilty.
