Police officers saved the life of a 7-year-old who was found walking towards a busy intersection in Sharjah as he tried to navigate the same route of his school bus that he had missed in the morning.

A concerned motorist who was stuck in traffic on the Al Wahda Bridge raised the alarm after seeing the child, of Arab nationality, walking along the bridge and towards the Humaid bin Saqr intersection.

Police used surveillance cameras to monitor the child’s whereabouts and guided police patrols towards the location.

A traffic officer was able to reach the child and save him from danger, escorting him into a vehicle and driving him to the bottom of the bridge.

The officer stopped the vehicle on the roadside to determine the identity of the child’s parents and his place of residence.

Police officers then drove him to school and walked him to class before continuing procedures relating to accountability and questioning his family to identify the circumstances that led to the child being allowed to walk along a dangerous road.
