ABU DHABI // Dozens of workers said they were on lockdown inside Al Nasr Building for about three hours on Monday as police investigated a suspicious vehicle parked outside their building.

Employees said police prevented anyone from exiting the building beginning at about 4pm as they investigated a black and red Chevrolet Camaro with Dubai licence plates.

The building is located adjacent to the Reem Island Bridge, along the service road leading to Salam Street. Police blocked off access from Fatima bint Mubarak Street to the service road toward Salam Street between 4pm and about 7.15pm.

Several police patrol cars, one ambulance and one Explosive Ordnance Disposal vehicle were seen parked around the building and near the Camaro.

“They did everything to it – they had dogs on it, they had a robot on it, they took stuff out,” a contractor, who asked not to be identified, said, speaking about the vehicle.

Another employee said he wasn’t concerned.

“It seems like it was nothing serious,” said the Jordanian. “Otherwise, they would have evacuated the buildings.”

Police at the scene declined to comment. By about 7pm, employees in Al Nasr Building were allowed to exit the building.
