Police arrest suspect in Al Ain hit-and-run that killed woman

The driver, who is thought to have fled the scene after knocking down and killing the elderly lady in the Al Yahar area of the city, was arrested within 48 hours, say police.

AL AIN // Police have arrested a motorist who was believed to have been involved in a hit-and-runa accident that killed an elderly woman in the Al Yahar North area of the city.

Major Salah Abdullah Al Humairi, Chief of the Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section of Abu Dhabi Police, said the operations room received a report of the accident and an investigation team was formed at once.

Officers were able able to track down the vehicle and arrest the driver within 48 hours of the incident.

Investigations are still underway to discover exactly what happened.
