A plumber who molested a girl at her parents’ home where he was fixing a leak will spend three months in prison.
On September 4, the maintenance team at a building in Al Rafaa sent a worker to the house of a 36-year-old Filipino engineer to fix a plumbing problem.
The Indian plumber, 51, arrived at the house at 6pm and began working in the bathroom, then moved to the kitchen, the engineer told the court.
After the worker left, the engineer and his wife found their eight-year-old daughter hiding in their bathroom.
When asked why she had locked herself in, she said she was hiding to avoid the worker who had touched her.
"I went to the kitchen but the maid was not around, the man then stood next to me and touched me," the girl told prosecutors.
Her parents called police who arrested the plumber two days later.
During questioning, the man admitted to touching the girl.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted him of sexual assault and he will be deported after serving his jail term.
